we would like to introduce you to the joy of "SKATE fast - turn left"
Finally, after all the disruptions caused by the pandemic, Sydney Speed skating Club will be hosting the first of a series of come and try sessions at Macquarie Ice Rink on Thursday 21 April 2022. The session is aimed primarily at those who want to give speed a try but current and former speedsters and skate-schoolers are also most welcome. Learn about speedskating technique, how we race and then give racing a try for yourself if you want to.
Thanks to the support of NSW Office of Sport three come & try sessions will be held free of charge to registered participants: at Macquarie Ice Rink
Session 1: 5.15 - 7.15 pm Thursday 21 April 2022 (register by Friday 15 April)
Sessions 2 & 3: dates and times to be advised
We welcome skaters of any age or ability and at the end of your session our coaches can recommend a learning program thats right for you to continue with the sport.
You will need to bring: a helmet, gloves, long sleeves and long legged pants. Also recommended: knee pads such as are used for volleyball. You can skate on any skates - even hire skates - to get started. As you progress we can assist with loan of skates and/or guide you in making equipment purchases.

- introduction to essential speedskating techniques & equipment guided by qualified and accredited coaches
- explanation and demonstration of short-track racing by officials and experienced skaters
- a chance to race! skaters will be grouped into appropriate levels for maximium safety - and fun!
